What will be the new normal for teachers without their public classrooms?
TUGUEGARAO CITY- the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 02 conducted series of virtual trainings for science and mathematics teachers in Cagayan Valley in preparation to their new normal instructional materials starting June 01 – onwards.
The #BAWAL LUMABAS PERO PWEDE PA RING MATUTO WEBINAR SERIES features the operation of STARBOOKS Online where teachers can practice alternative teaching through virtual format that allow students to have an access to user-friendly pods filled with S&T information.
‘’Tayo man po ay dumaranas ng hindi magandang sitwasyon ay mas kinakailangan po nating magtulungan, yung tinatawag nating convergence, collaboration, partnerships, coordination’’ DOST R02 Director Sancho A. Mabborang said in his inspirational message to STEM teachers and students in the region.
A total of 420 teacher participants from the divisions of Batanes, Tuguegarao, Ilagan, Santiago and Nueva Vizcaya as of today graced the said event, led and well-supported by the Department of Education ( DepEd) Regional Director Dr. Estela L. Carino in the initial run of STARBOOKS webinar series.
Also, the Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operation Services (ARD-TOS) Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog delivered message emphasizing the concept of “SSLI” which means Self-learning, Shared Learning, and Learning with Impact that they should pursue while using STARBOOKS.
She also emphasized commitment for all the science and math teachers for the effective use and sharing of STARBOOKS.
DOST’s Science and Technology Academic Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks (STARBOOKS) Training was conducted by Mr. Napoleon T. Babaran, R02 STARBOOKS focal person.
STARBOOKS allow learners to have access to thousands of digitized science and technology resources, including mathematics and livelihood-related materials in text, photo, audio, and video formats that will help them adapt to the new normal setting.
Furthermore, Mr. Babaran conducted online exams to assess what they have learned in the whole duration of the learning in order to receive their E-certificates.
