As we have seen the effect of the CoViD-19 pandemic, delivery of S&T Information to the grassroots is very important.

The Department of Science and Technology Regional Office XI (DOST Region XI), through its PSTC Davao del Norte, conducted the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and training on installation of the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosk Stations (STARBOOKS) last July 8, 2020 at DepEd Division of Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS).

The said activity was participated by the School Heads and School ICT Coordinator from eight (8) schools beneficiaries of the different projects and three (3) from other requesting schools or Division office which are the following: (1) DOST-DTI-DepEd Collaboration for Personal Computers for Public Schools (PCPS),
a. Sta. Cruz National High School
b. Mambago-B National High School
c. Nieves Villarica National High School
d. Tagbitag-ag National High School
e. Matanos National High School
f. Balet National High School

(2) DOST-DepEd Project Elimination of Academic Gaps of Learners in the Elementary (EAGLE),
a. Peñaplata Central Elementary School SPED Center
b. Angel Villarica Central Elementary School

(3) Other requesting Schools/ Division Office.
a. San Isidro Integrated School
b. Cogon National High School
c. DepEd IGaCos Schools Division Office

This was also joined by the Division Heads spearheaded by the Schools Division Superintendent of DepEd IGaCos, Dr. Winnie E. Batoon, CESO VI and by the DTI Davao del Norte represented by Mr. Elmer M. Gingos, coordinator of the Personal Computers for Public Schools (PCPS).

The STARBOOKS serves as information portals in key areas in the locality. Faculty and students can now have free and easy access to digitized resource materials even with the absence of internet connection.
