Operation KAJO raises 8 desktop computers for Barangays in Atok, brings Free S&T Information sources to the learners’ doorsteps
The DOST-CAR received eight (8) desktop computers to be installed with the DOST’s Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosk Stations (STARBOOKS) before it will be distributed to the eight (8) Barangays in Atok.
The Operation KAJO (Kajo, an Ibaloi term to mean, CARE) was initiated by the Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology- Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR) and to the Municipal LGUs in Benguet. The project aimed to establish learning hubs at the barangay level in order to bring updated, credible, offline learning resources to the far-flung barangays in Benguet, starting with the Municipality of Atok. This is through the installation of STARBOOKS, a digitized library containing free S&T resources that can be accessed offline to the desktop computers raised by Operation KAJO. This endeavor seeks to provide the information needs of the students, out-of-school-youths, adult learners, and lifelong learners despite restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic.
