SULTAN KUDARAT – The Provincial Science and Technology Center in Sultan Kudarat (PSTC-SK) of the Department of Science and Technology Region XII (DOST XII) dispatched STARBOOKS to Madanding National High School in Sultan Kudarat last February 2, 2021.
Provincial Science and Technology Director of Sultan Kudarat (PSTD) Ms. Zenaida Guiano led the transmitting of the said STARBOOKS kiosk together with Ms. Beatriz O. Bongcawel, SRS II and Mr. Camarodin S. Pendatun, SRS I.
The activity was the offshoot of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between DOST XII represented by Regional Director Engr. Sammy P. Malawan, CESE and Madanding National High School, represented by Ms. Ana H. Gustilo, Head Teacher I, last December 23, 2020 held at the PSTC-Sultan Kudarat in Tacurong City.
To avoid exposure to person-to-person contacts due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the school was allowed to bring to the office the computer unit to serve as server so that the installation of the STARBOOKS software be done in the office, and be dispatched on a later date.
Thus, on this day the STARBOOKS was dispatched, and the management and teaching personnel of Madanding National High School were taught and coached on the usage of the STARBOOKS- a digital library which can function off-line. This is an enormous help to the school, which is located approximately 23 km away from Tacurong City and in the innermost portion of the municipality of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat.
The STARBOOKS server will empower sixty four (64) computer units to serve both the students and teachers of the school.
Provincial Director (PD) Guiano informed them that the project was one (1) way of DOST’s reaching to the people in the innermost areas, so that they would felt the presence of government assistance.
Ms. Gustilo, the Head Teacher who was the head of the school when the MOU was signed, and the new principal Mr. Edwin Lagriva, both expressed their appreciation and gratitude, especially to our newly installed Regional Director, Engr. Sammy P. Malawan, CESE as well as the staff of Sultan Kudarat PSTC for being recipient of STARBOOKS, the first school to be able to do so in the Division of Sultan Kudarat.
Due to COVID-19, only the teaching staff were being taught, and they were so delighted when they were able to open the program in their own assigned computer units.
