To support the vision of the Bohol 2nd Congressional District Representative and the officials of the Local Government Unit of Ubay to develop the municipality of Ubay into a “Science Municipality”, DOST-Bohol in collaboration with LGU-Ubay implemented the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Project.
On September 13, 2021, DOST-Bohol, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Ubay, successfully turn-over twenty-five (25) STARBOOKS (Science and Technology Academic-Research Based Openly Operated Kiosks) units to the select public elementary and secondary schools in the Municipality of Ubay. Likewise, turn over a Bottle Capping Machine to the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC).
STARBOOKS is a digital Science and Technology Library that will provide opportunities for the teachers, students, parents, and the public, access to science and technology information to enhance their interest in science and technology, stimulate and develop new ideas, and inspire their capacity for entrepreneurship and research to contribute for socio-economic development. More so, it strengthens the library facility of the school beneficiaries.
On the other hand, the bottle capping machine will upgrade the PCC’s dairy processing and packaging capabilities to improve product quality and increase productivity. Through this intervention, the bottle capping time will significantly reduce.
