STARBOOKS

JUST IN: STARBOOKS reaches five public schools in San Marcelino, Zambales

Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat, DOST III Regional Director awarded ten (10) STARBOOKS packages to five (5) recipient schools during the Launching of the Digital Library at the San Guillermo National High School Covered Court. Among the school-beneficiaries are Chiang Chio Te Memorial Aeta School, Dalanawan Elementary School and San Marcelino National High School. These schools are situated tens of kilometers from the town proper, have poor internet connection, and minimal electronic equipment to cater hundreds of Indigenous People. Conversely, San Guillermo National High School and Linusungan Elementary School have electronic classrooms that are being utilized for research and teaching, hence unable to accommodate large number of students.

STARBOOKS or the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated KioskS provides digitized S&T resources that may be viewed offline and are accessible to remote locations.

It is expected that the rollout of STARBOOKS would spark the interest of students in gathering material in electronic form, expand their understanding of science, technology & mathematics, and enables innovation in teaching.

The event was graced by Mr. Leysander P. Aquino, Project Coordinator, Mr. Tristan Jay Fulgeras Principal IV/District Coordinating Principal, Ms. Bernardita D. Montevirgen, Zambales Provincial Science and Technology Director, Dr. Josephine L. Raguini, Principal III San Guillermo NHS, Mr. Benedic B. Flores,Head Teacher I,Chiang Chio Te Memorial Aeta School, representatives from Linusungan Elem. School, Dalanawan Elem. School, San Marcelino NHS and Tarlac Agricultural University.
