With the transition of Universities to flexible teaching and learning schemes and in support to their Learning Continuity Plan required by CHED, the Philippine Normal University President, Dr. Bert Jazmin Tuga, received the DOST e-library dubbed STARBOOKS from DOST Region 2 headed by Regional Director Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang through the Provincial Science and Technology Center in Isabela led by Provincial Director Engr. Marcelo G. Miguel during the Launching of STARBOOKS at the Philippine Normal University North Luzon Campus, Alicia, Isabela.
“This modality of learning is essential because of this new normal. We need to adopt different strategies to cope with this pandemic situation. I thank DOST for the support to our institution through this digital library system,” said Dr. Tuga during his speech.
Dr. Lordinio A. Vergara, OIC Executive Director and Provost of PNU North Luzon Campus, also expressed his thanks and said that it is with this next normal that we are facing that we encounter the next solutions to problems of the campus. He also said that this STARBOOKS platform will pave a way for the blended learning they are implementing on the campus.
Engr. Marcelo G. Miguel, Provincial Director of DOST PSTC Isabela, also expressed his gratitude to PNU President for supporting the STARBOOKS program and shared also its online platform, the starbooks.ph.
Furthermore, Mr. Napoleon T. Babaran, STARBOOKS Regional Coordinator, explained the purpose of the STARBOOKS. “STARBOOKS is an acronym for Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS. STARBOOKS allow learners to have access to thousands of digitized science and technology resources, including mathematics and livelihood-related materials in text, photo, audio, and video formats that will help them adapt to the new normal setting,” Mr. Babaran said.
