PSTC Pangasinan Satellite Office conducted Online and Offline orientation on the use of Science and Technology Academic Research Based Openly Operated Kiosks (STARBOOKS) to Arboleda National High School in San Pedo Ili, Alcala Pangasinan on February 4, 2021 via Microsoft Teams.
Mr. James Prepose, DOST 1 STARBOOKS Focal Person with the assistance of Myca Gael A. Abella, SRS I, headed the orientation.
He walked the teachers and Barangay Officials through the various features and content of the digital library as well as how to create and manage their accounts. He also included on the orientation on how to use and navigate STARBOOK’s different information resources like K12 Materials, S&T encyclopedia and others. Mr. Prepose also introduced the online version of which can be accessed at https://starbooks.ph
STARBOOKS, also known as the “library in a box”, is the first Philippine science and technology digital library. It is a standalone information source designed to bring science and technology (S&T) information to the grassroots particularly to geographically-isolated schools and local government units throughout the country as well as enhance the educational competence of students in its beneficiary schools. It contains S&T-based educational and learning resources in various formats. It aims to reach and assist more learners at the grassroots and to improve the learning environment of the schools.
46 participants attended in the webinar headed by Ms. Arlene A. Abiang, Principal III, together with the Teachers and Barangay officials of San Pedro Ili, Alcala, Pangasinan.
