STARBOOKS

LOOK: The DOST-CAR through PSTC-Benguet turned-over four (4) sets of Science and Technology Academic Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosk Station (STARBOOKS), a library in a box, to Sagubo Elementary School, Ampungot Elementary School, Pudong Elementary School and Lao-angan Barrio School in Kapangan, Benguet, today, August 12, 2021.

STARBOOKS, dubbed as the first Philippine digital library, contains digitized science and technology resources in various formats (text and video/audio) and can be operated without internet connection.

The units provided to the said schools were funded by DOST-CAR thru its Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program – Education and Human Resources Empowerment component. It hopes to bring S&T resources to far flung areas for better learning opportunities.

Ms. Cecil Dionisio of PSTC-Benguet oriented the teachers and school heads of the school-beneficiaries on the overview of the STARBOOKs, while Mr. Rey Teofilo, DOST-CAR STARBOOKS staff, conducted a training on how to operate the digital library.

The beneficiaries hope to use the technology provided in preparing their teaching modules and strategize how they will let the learners use it while face to face classes did not yet resume.
