LEARNERS in TUBLAY RECEIVE EARLY CHRISTMAS GIFT, a DIGITAL LIBRARY

STARBOOKS

To spur interest and increase aptitude of learners in science, math and technology, the DOST- CAR thru the Provincial S&T Office-Benguet gives four (4) digital libraries to learners in Tublay on September 8, 2022.

The digital library, which is known as STARBOOKS – Science and Technology Academic Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks Station, is the first digital library in the Philippines that can be operated without internet connection. It is a stand-alone information source that contains hundreds of thousands of digitized science and technology resources in various formats (text and video/audio) placed in specially design “pods” set in a user-friendly interface.

Four (4) schools namely Becday Charosas Lamsis Elementary School, Ciriaco Magno Elementary School, Langbis Primary School, and Moran Elementary School are the schools- beneficiaries funded under the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program of DOST. Mr. Pepito Toring of DOST – PSTO Benguet discussed that the CEST Program for the Municipality of Tublay includes Human Resources Development – Support to Education, hence, the deployment of the STARBOOKS.

“Our joy is to see you using these STARBOOKS” said Mr. Toring as he encouraged the participants to maximize the assistance.

Moreover, the schools-beneficiaries also extended their gratitude to DOST and pledge their commitment to maximize the use of the STARBOOKS, not only in the school but will be open to anyone who is interested in community.

Meanwhile, DOST-CAR STARBOOKS Staff Mr. Dejoia Lee Andres conducted Administrators’ and Users Training during the deployment.
