DOST grants STARBOOKS through DepEd’s Adopt-A-School Program

Tandang Sora Elementary School in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental seals agreement with DOST’s STARBOOKS or the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosks. The alumna of Tandang Sora Elementary School Batch 1970 coordinated with the Department of Education through its Adopt-A-School-Program for the donation of 3 units of laptops plus another unit donated by Lenovo Philippines. This endeavor aims to assist the school to modify and better equip itself to teach in the new normal.

STARBOOKS is also known as the “library in a box”, is the first Philippine science and technology digital library. It is a standalone information source designed to bring science and technology (S&T) information to the grassroots particularly to geographically-isolated schools and local government units throughout the country as well as enhance the educational competence of students in its beneficiary schools. It contains S&T-based educational and learning resources in various formats. It aims to reach and assist more learners at the grassroots and to improve the learning environment of the schools.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between DOST VI and Tandang Sora Elementary School was made possible virtually last January 8, 2020. (DOST VI-KMU).
