“As we are aboard on this giant ship of projects, let us not forget those who are still gaspingly rowing on their little boats of challenges.” These words uttered by OIC-Provincial Director For. Nabil A. Hadji Yassin representing Regional Director of DOST XII Engr. Sammy A. Malawan, CESE summarizes the agency’s intention to implement inclusive programs; reaching even those who are in the farthest areas in the region.
Last February 17, the Department of Science and Technology capacitated twenty-eight (28) schools in Sarangani Province during the DOST Science and Technology Academic and Research—Based Openly-Operated KiokS (STARBOOKS) Orientation and Training held at Alabel National Science High School, Alabel, Sarangani Province.
The event focused on skills training on the STARBOOKS computer set – from setting up the unit to maximizing its features and content. Benjie Francisco, the technical expert for the STARBOOKS in DOST XII, showcased the full potential of the computer pod to 58 enthusiastic educators who are expected to lead and operate the STARBOOKS program in their respective schools.
According to Roy Detoyato, Division ICT Coordinator of DepEd – Sarangani who is very excited about the endeavor, the program can complement to the ongoing implementation of their Learning Resources on Wi-Fi Hub for Expanded e-Learning (LR on WHEels) and can reinforce their drive to bring the learning contents to students from far-flung areas.
PD Hadji Yassin added that hopefully, this partnership of DOST XII and DepEd – Sarangani will come to fruition that will surely help the students in the entire province, and indeed, no child will be left behind.
