The PH’s 1st S&T Offline Digital Library or the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks Station (STARBOOKS) contains hundreds and thousands of digitized science and technology resources and K to 12 materials in various formats (text and video/audio) set in a user-friendly interface. Some of its special features are: it is a standalone information kiosk, hence, information access is possible even without internet connection and; it is a compendium of S&T information gathered from all over the world.
We are delighted that our school was one of the recipients of the DOST Region XII STARBOOKS here in the Province of South Cotabato. STARBOOKS will benefit the 496 UMNHS students, which include 356 Junior High school and 140 Senior High school.
The STARBOOKS orientation and training were held at the School ICT Laboratory. Participants of the said activity were the School Head, Teachers, ICT Coordinator, and Reading Coordinator.
The main objective of this activity is to train teachers on its function and utilization as well as on how to run and operate the STARBOOKS.
This is one way of enhancing the scientific and technology literacy” among the students in the school. Also, this will not only benefit students but the teachers as well.
