DOST Region V, in collaboration with the Provincial Science and Technology Center Camarines Sur, successfully installed STARBOOKS and conducted orientation cum users hands-on training at King Thomas Learning Academy, Inc., a school situated in Malubago, Sipocot, Camarines Sur.
During the training, the various platforms and operational procedures of the digital library were discussed, including (1) the offline platform, which allows you to freely access S&T information even without an internet connection, (2) the online portal, which allows you to access the content even from your home using an internet/mobile data connection, and (3) the mobile and gamified version of the application, which is already available in the Google Play Store.
The Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosk Station, (STARBOOKS), is a stand-alone information source designed to bring reliable S&T information to the grassroots especially to geographically-isolated school and local government units throughout the country. It contains hundreds and thousands of digitize science and technology resources in various formats (text and video/audio) set in a users friendly interface.
STARBOOKS is like an eBooks that every student nowadays is currently using as their alternative resource materials to aid their studies on a different level even the elementary grades are also utilizing these resources and even those who are into postgraduate studies are definitely making use of this material. So, King Thomas Learning Academy is indeed grateful to have this opportunity and received this eLearning material. We assure you that we will be utilizing this material to its maximum use.
