Elementary School in Natividad, Pangasinan adopts STARBOOKS

STARBOOKS

The Department of Science and Technology Region 1 through its Provincial Science and Technology Center – Pangasinan Field Office awarded a Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosk Stations (STARBOOKS) to San Jose Elementary School, Natividad, Pangasinan on March 10, 2022.

Ms. Carmi Valen P. Andaya, Head Teacher III of San Jose Elementary School, accepted the unit installed with S&T learning materials & educational resources all stored in the digital library.

STARBOOKS is a stand-alone information source designed to reach those with limited or no access to S&T information resources which aims to provide Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI)-based content in various formats to students and other constituents in geographically isolated and economically challenged schools and communities throughout the country. It contains hundreds of thousands of digitized science and technology resources in various formats (text and video/audio) placed in specially designed “pods” set in a user-friendly interface.

Currently, the STARBOOKS has been adopted by 14 schools in Natividad, Pangasinan, including public & private elementary & high schools. STARBOOKS is one of DOST1’s ongoing programs to empower and deliver science and technology innovations to geographically isolated areas. (By: GD Morata)
