Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks renowned as STARBOOKS aims to deliver S&T based educational and learning resources to geographically-isolated schools throughout the country.
In line with its vision, 8 computer units with wifi router and printers installed with DOST-STARBOOKS were turned over among the identified beneficiaries in 1st District of Cotabato Province. The turnover and distribution took place on July 12 at Notre Dame of Midsayap College (NDMC) through the directives of Regional Director Sammy P. Malawan accompanied with Provincial Director Michael T. Mayo to the following beneficiaries of Alamada:
– Lt. Lito S. Orejudos Elementary School
– Dulao Elementary School
– New Leon Elementary School
– Badak Elementary School
– Mimbalawag Elementary School
– Teren-Teren Elementary School
– Upper Dado Central Elementary School
– BLGU of Barangay Dado
The deployment of STARBOOKS is timely as the Province of Cotabato is now preparing for the face-to-face learning setup. Through the alliance of Provincial Governor Emmylou “Lala” Taliño Mendoza and in assistance of 1st district Congressman Joel S. Sacdalan it was made possible.
RD Malawan assured the recipients that DOST-STARBOOKS will be of great help as they can effectively and efficiently use the facility for information source even without internet connection.
Moreover, an orientation on the use and operation of STARBOOKS was also conducted by Mr. Reynel Revilla of the DOST XII-Cotabato Province to enhance the educational competence of students in its beneficiary schools. (By: T.A)
