The Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) and the Zambales Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC-Zambales) completed the installation of STARBOOKS to 22 different schools in Castillejos, Zambales through the initiative of the former Undersecretary for Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Dr. Rowena Cristina L. Guevara, Castillejos Councilor Rhodora Guevara and San Agustin High School.
The Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks renowned as STARBOOKS contains hundreds of thousands of digitized science and technology resources in various formats (text and video/audio).
Today, a ceremonial turnover of STARBOOKS was conducted in the presence of DOST 3 Director Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat, Dr. Rowena Cristina L. Guevara, Provincial S&T Director Bernardita D. Montevirgen, Councilor Rhodora Guevara, Coordinating Principal Mario M. Celis, San Agustin High School Principal Rachael F. Esteban and school representatives.
After the ceremony, Mr. Eros Effiel C. Quiabang, Project Assistant II, PSTC-Zambales spearheaded the orientation and hands-on training on STARBOOKS.
The school-beneficiaries are Looc Integrated School, President Ramon F. Magsaysay Elementary School, Castillejos Resettlement High School, V. Gallardo Elementary School, Balaybay Resettlement Elementary School, San Agustin High School, Balaybay Elementary School, Castillejos Elementary School, San Agustin Elementary School, Kanaynayan Elementary School, Del Pilar Elementary School, Villaflor Elementary School, St. Nicholas Academy of Castillejos Inc., San Isidro Elementary School, Jesus F. Magsaysay Technical – Vocational High School, Sta. Maria Elementary School, Nagbayan Elementary School, San Nicolas Primary School, Buenavista Elementary School, Hanjin Integrated School, Castillejos National High School, and Magsaysay Elementary School.
