DOST-STARBOOKS Revolutionizes Learning at Pugo Central NHS


PUGO, La Union – With the aim of providing students with advanced learning resources, the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office I, through its Provincial Science and Technology Office – La Union (PSTO-LU), spearheaded the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), an orientation and deployment of Science and Technology Academic Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosk Station (STARBOOKS) on March 15, 2024, at Pugo Central National High School (NHS), Barangay Cares, Pugo, La Union.

The activity was led by PSTO-LU Provincial Director Mr. Jonathan M. Viernes where he encouraged the students to utilize STARBOOKS for their academic pursuits, emphasizing its potential for research and investigatory projects. The MOU signing ceremony saw the presence of PD Viernes and Mr. Ross U. Rivera, the school principal. Following this, Ms. Katrina F. Ronquillo, Senior Science Research Specialist of PSTO-La Union, conducted an orientation on STARBOOKS, supported by Mr. Anthony Ian H. Reyes, Project Technical Aide V, and the STARBOOKS focal person from DOST 1, who demonstrated its functionalities.

Students across various grade levels were given the chance to explore STARBOOKS, and they were notably impressed by its educational and interactive features. Mr. Rivera expressed sincere appreciation for this transformative initiative, thanking the DOST for their commitment to enhancing the educational experience. He encouraged students to share their knowledge of accessing STARBOOKS with their peers.

As the DOST, through OneDOST4U, continues to champion innovation and inclusivity in education, the deployment of STARBOOKS at Pugo Central National High School heralds a new era of digital learning, promising to empower students and educators alike with boundless opportunities for growth and exploration in the realm of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI).
